One week till I'm in my new apartment!

Before you read this post make sure to look at the picture I added of the port. I thought most of you have never seen one, so I thought I'd share. I've now made the port into a funky looking key chain :)

Anyway.... I've been getting back to the gym since Monday. I haven't done any really long walks or runs but I've gotten in a few miles here and there, and I've done some lifting. My orthotics are starting to feel a little bit more normal but it's still going to take some getting used to.

Kaitlin and I move into our new apartment in one week!!! We're both super excited and antsy to get in there. My parents and I are starting the drive down right after radiation on Wednesday. We'll get to Greenville sometime Thursday afternoon and start unpacking. It should be interesting having Turtle in the car with us the whole time. She's a trooper though! I really need to start doing some packing and organizing! Thankfully we have a lot of stuff for our place already- we just need a washer/dryer, tv, microwave, etc.... and I need to furnish my entire bedroom. Hopefully that won't take too long to do.

After getting settled, I think I'm going to apply for a job at one the Starbucks around Greenville. I enjoyed my job as barista when I was in highschool and I think it will be a good way to make some money and start living a semi-normal/routine life.

I have almost hit the $10,000 mark- it's soooo crazy!!!! Thank you everyone who has supported me. If I haven't sent you a thank-you yet, I apologize. Things have been crazy around here! My granddad had surgery last week to have a pin put in his hip and my grandma has been staying with us. So on top of going to Mercer for radiation everyday, I've also being going to St. Marys to visit him. Everything is going well though- thanks for all of your support :)

The devil port is finally out!!!

Hello all!
Friday, the devil port finally came out!!!! I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am about it! I only had local anesthesia so it was very weird being awake during the entire surgery. Both drs were extremely nice and intelligent. I had some ativan which is an anti-anxiety drug so that kept me nice and "loopy" during the procedure :) They sterilized the port and let me keep it! They thought it was a somewhat strange request but once they opened me up and saw that it was a hot purple titanium port they understood why I wanted it. I think I'm going to make a key chain out of it! Haha. I'm still pretty sore but feeling so much better than when it was installed. Thankfully a plastic surgeon closed it up so I won't have a big ugly scar. I'll follow up with him next Tuesday.

Unfortunately, the surgery has prevented me from training for the past several days. I took a leisurely stroll around the block tonight. Hopefully within the next week I'll be able to go at a fast pace again.

10 days till I leave for South Carolina! Kaitlin and I are moving into our apartment on June 28th and we're very very excited about it. Kaitlin and Turtle have been anxious to see each other for a very long time now. It should be interesting having the kitty in the car for the trip down to SC!

First Post!

So I've decided to start a blog page since it will be easier to write more detailed entries on here. I am completely overwhelmed today as the money I've raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has sky rocketed to $7,548. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT. It is so incredibly exciting. (http://www.active.com/donate/tntsc/tntscKPerry -that's where you can donate if you like!)

Saturday I walked my 5 miles in about 1 hr and 10 mins. Not too shabby. On Thursday I met with a personal trainer at the gym and did these weird plyometric exercises. I don't think I have ever been so sore in my entire life! I only did one set of each exercise and I'm supposed to do three sets. I woke up Sunday in intense pain and could barely move. Thankfully I'm feeling better today :)

I got a call from the foot dr.'s office today and my orthotics are in! Woohoo. I'll be picking them up tomorrow afternoon and I'm very excited about that. Tomorrow I also have to go to St. Mary's for my pre-op for the port removal surgery I'm having on Friday. I'm hoping it won't be nearly as painful as it was going in! Also, I'm having a plastic surgeon close so I won't have another awful looking scar.

On another side note, my hair is starting to grow back! It feels funny to have such a fuzzy head. I'm glad that it's starting to come back in.

Ok that's all for now. Thanks for checking up on me!
